Factory made, processed foods lack the necessary inherent enzymes—in the food itself—for our bodies to properly digest them. Thus, it is not a far stretch of the imagination to suggest that... enzymes are most likely public enemy #1 of the large food retailers. This is because it is very dis-advantageous for profits if the products on the shelves of your favourite supermarket spoil too fast. But this is what living, nutritious food, that is full of enzymes is naturally supposed to do. It is supposed to break-down rapidly so that our digestive system can use it - not compared to eating something like cardboard that has no life left in it!
To further confuse the issue, some terminology found on processed food packaging - especially the ingredient labeling - is presented to us in a very 'vague' manner today. One word that is being used far too loosely is the word 'natural' and usually does not even specifically mean anymore than ... minimally processed... and sometimes free of artificial ingredients. But what happens to that food during the processing of it is anyone’s guess. If we could learn not to eat such large quantities of processed foods or limit cooking too much of our foods, then perhaps there would be no need for our ever increasing intake of vitamin and mineral supplements.
As health researcher Phillip Day stated recently " We are being fed by a food industry that pays no attention to health - and being treated by a health industry that pays no attention to food!" So this is why each one of us must do our own research today regarding health.
Dr Herbert Shelton, founder and Principal of Dr Shelton's Health School (San Antonio Texas) stated in his book Superior Nutrition back in 1951 that "Nothing is more important to a nation than its people be given proper, natural food!" He obviously was very concerned where we were headed - even way back then.
